Roberts Donated Help to Gay Rights Case

What a nice guy. Just about the time of his marriage while he was in his forties (which was about 4 years after not being able to get approved for appellate court), Mr John Roberts, who has two adopted kids, goes out on a limb to help gay rights. Anyone hear a closet door closing?

This must have been just before he and his lovely wife started thinking about adopting children too. What a sweetheart-taking so much time out of his busy life. Other Republicans that married late in life (these two about the time they started allowing Jeff Gannon-Jim Gluckert into White House press conferences) are Ari Fleischer and Scott Mc Clellan.

Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts Jr. worked behind the scenes for gay rights activists, and his legal expertise helped them persuade the Supreme Court to issue a landmark 1996 ruling protecting people from discrimination because of their sexual orientation.

Then a lawyer specializing in appellate work, the conservative Roberts helped represent the gay rights activists as part of his law firm's pro bono work. He did not write the legal briefs or argue the case before the high court, but he was instrumental in reviewing filings and preparing oral arguments, according to several lawyers intimately involved in the case.
