If they just would come right out and say how much they want slavery back

Some people just hate the Minutemen!

How dare they try to keep affluent people from their cheap help.

If the Northern Virginians in the upper middle class didn't have their cheap help they might have to go out and hire some of our own minorities. I could see if wages went up a little then people from other areas--real Americans--would move in. People from areas with 10%--well that's all the minorities. Look at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Minorities and teens have much higher unemployment rates. (Sorry, the Hispanic category has miraculously recovered since last Spring and is now nearly as good as the average. Maybe people are hoping they're illegal). Teens and blacks still have triple digit unemployment. Remember when teens went out and got jobs and learned responsibility? Not anymore. An illegal alien needs their job.

But then wages would have to go up a little. You can treat an illegal immigrant like a slave and pay them nearly dirt. Apparently what the editorial writer wants.

That's not about work ethic. It's live like an animal ethic as they sleep in fields, start fires in windy weather (the cause of a major fire years ago in CA)while they sleep or while they go out to shoot their food (the cause of the deadly fire near SanDiego last year) because they can't afford enough to feed their family.

Get a clue, people. It's a the new slavery and designed to drag American workers back to the 19th century. And minorities, who knows where they'll end up.
Minutemen, Go Home

BTW, where other papers usually have truly intellectual and analytical editorials. Washington Post usually has someone ranting in theirs.

I like your style. This issue is highly relevant to reinstating slavery. We have a HUGE illegal immigrant problem in the MD/DC/VA area, and the Washington Post seems to think that as long as rich people want cheap labor, it's wrong to object.

Well, I do object on the basis that having large, concentrated areas of illegal immigrants usually results in higher crime rates (Ever heard of the Mara Salvatrucha gang? They're the guys chopping people up with machetes), increased traffic accidents due to unlicensed/uninsured/inexperienced drivers, litter near day-laborer sites, public drunkenness and urination, etc. There have also been many instances in which people driving into 7-Eleven parking lots in pickup trucks are mobbed by wannabe workers, when they're only there to buy coffee and a donut.

I had really hoped to live in my Silver Spring home until I died of old age (especially without having to learn a foreign language), but with the INS completely ignoring the problem and looking the other way, I don't think that's going to happen. Our quality of life just isn't what it used to be. If the Minutemen want to come to Montgomery County, I'll be glad to give them a guided tour! :)

I agree. And the crime problem with illegals goes beyond even the gang, M.S. This is being covered over by concerns that the rich and big business want these people here to keep wages low.
