Jobless Rate Dips Thank you, Katrina and Rita

It is possible that the jobless rate did dip.

There's rebuilding in the Gulf Coast to be done.

Of course the US will just add it to the deficit. No reason to take the massive tax cuts away from the rich.

But generally this time of year great swaths of illegal aliens would be laid off from the fields. Fewer head home than before and instead they cram into cities and boost the rents higher and seek winter jobs there (though we don't see a similar decrease in the spring--rentals have apparently found the gasoline method of pricing).

The large influx of illegals since Bush has come to office has made the unemployment rate look lower than it is, apparently.

People are mistaken to think that the rate comes from info gleaned as people pick up their UE checks, but still the number of illegals in our nation are not well counted, but their jobs are. It is taken from home surveys and business surveys-like polls they just take a sample obviously. You aren't called every month are you?

If you live in the home of an illegal are you going to answer honestly about how many are in your household and their work status? And those guys living in tents and farm worker housing aren't going to have phones at all.

But employers are likely to say how many are working for them as long as they don't have to verify if the workers are legal.

Therefore, the samples without verification of legality is like lipstick on a pig.

You still know there's something wrong with it, but "look at those ruby lips".

The Labor Department has already been caught using a new model that makes up imaginary jobs which was installed just in time for the 2004 election year. (The original info on imaginary jobs came from John Crudele of the New York Post. The forum post is a copy, and has a link to a usenet copy of the original article which is no longer offered at the Post.)

I'm sure they don't mind that their methods tend to reduce the UE rate by undercounting the civilian labor force.
